Location & Getting Around

Hout Bay lies just 25 minutes from central Cape Town, perfectly positioned between the Atlantic coast, the Constantia wine valley, and the Cape Peninsula’s wild landscapes. The village combines the charm of a working harbour with easy access to mountain trails, beaches, and scenic drives — making it one of Cape Town’s most versatile coastal bases.

  • Constantia Wine Route (10–15 min): Cape Town’s oldest wine region lies just over Constantia Nek, home to historic estates such as Groot Constantia, Beau Constantia, and Klein Constantia. Expect beautiful views, elegant tasting rooms, and some of the Cape’s finest restaurants.
  • Chapman’s Peak Drive (10 mins): starting at the edge of the bay, this world-renowned route winds along the cliffs between Hout Bay and Noordhoek. It’s one of the most scenic coastal drives anywhere — perfect for sunset drives, photo stops, or morning coffee at a viewpoint.
  • Camps Bay & Clifton (20–25 min): a short and striking drive along the coast brings you to Cape Town’s most iconic beaches, where white sand, turquoise water, and buzzing beachfront cafés set the tone for a classic Atlantic summer day.
  • Table Mountain & City Bowl (25 min): within half an hour you can reach the Table Mountain cableway, the V&A Waterfront, and Cape Town’s central attractions, combining easy sightseeing with the serenity of a seaside return home.
